TNT Sports Club of Norristown, PA captured the SSWS World
Qualifier in Glen Burnie, MD. Manager Sonny Termine took his 50&over squad to
Maryland and for the second straight year, won this event. They are now
qualified to play in the World Championship to be held later on this Summer. TNT
defeated teams from Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey
in route to the title. Local players who have been icons in Norristown softball
for many years paved starred for TNT. Leading the way were Ron Postel (16-25,
.640), Dale Hood (17-28, .607), Randy Clouser (19-26, .731), Bob Keyser (10-16,
.625) and Ron Weikel (16-25, .640). Other players contributing were Delaware
County's Eddie Turner (19-27, .704) and Lynn Thompson (14-19, .739),
Harrisburg's Dana Holstoy (13-18, .722), Carl Miller (13-20, .650), Jeff Fry
(14-24, .583), Scranton's Lou Lussi (17-25, .680), Richie Collonese (14-21,
.667) and Claude Kendricks of Hempstead, NY (13-22, .591). TNT played it's final
three games against Pill & Pill of Morgantown, WV scoring 63 runs while allowing
42. In the whole tournament, TNT scored 136 runs and allowed only 63. The
defense also turned an amazing 14 double plays.
