UPDATED ASA of PA CODE 4.03
for the Reclassification of Teams
For Men's Slow Pitch
CLASS E SLOW PITCH
Any team with four (4) or more roster members returning from any teams
that:
1. Finishes in the top 10 percent (10%) in the Amateur Softball Association
of Pennsylvania Class-E Eastern or Class-E Western State Championship
Finals.
2. Wins the Class-E Fall State Championship.
3. May be moved up to Class-D at any time if the District Commissioner
and/or Slow Pitch Committee along with the State Reclassification Board deem
the team too strong for Class-E and competitive enough to play Class-D
4. May be moved up to Class-D if they participate in ASA of PA Class-E
Eastern or Western State Championship play and finish with a record of 3-2
or better. This is subjected and proved by the data collected by the Slow
Pitch Committee and State Reclassification Board.
5. If a team does win an appeal and gets moved down from Class-D to Class-E.
That Approved Class-E Roster is FROZEN for the entire ASA of PA season
If
and/or when that team decides to go to Nationals, they are then granted
their 3 pickups.
MAY BE SUBJECTED to play at the next higher classification level in the new
year. Teams should be classified at the highest
Classification of four (4) or their rosters members.
CLASS D SLOW PITCH
Any team with four (4) or more roster members returning from any teams
that:
1. Finishes in the top four (4) in the Amateur Softball Association of
Pennsylvania State Championship Finals.
2. May be moved up to Class-C at any time if the District Commissioner
and/or Slow Pitch Committee along with the State Reclassification Board deem
the team too strong for Class-D and competitive enough to play Class-C
3. May be moved up to Class-C if they participate in ASA of PA Class-D State
Finals and/or the Class-D Eastern or Class-D Western Area Championship play
and finish with a record of 3-2 or better. This is subjected and proved by
the data collected by the Slow Pitch Committee and State Reclassification
Board. This rule may or may not count for the East or West Class-D Area
State Championships depending on how dominant a team was. This will be a
committee decision.
4. Any team that participates in ASA of PA Class-D State Finals or the
Eastern and/or Western State Championship play and finishes with a record of
2-2 or better is restricted to the Class-D level or higher for the next
year. This means the team may NOT appeal in any way to try and play Class-E
for the following year. (Forfeit wins do not count).
5. If a team does win an appeal and gets moved down from Class-C to Class-D.

Any team with four (4) or more roster members returning from any teams

1. Wins the Amateur Softball Association of Pennsylvania State Championship
Finals two (2) times in a three (3) year period and also finishes second in
the other year.
MAY BE SUBJECTED to play at the next higher classification level in the
new year. Teams should be classified at the highest
Classification of four (4) or their rosters members.
CLASS B SLOW PITCH
These caliber teams will be dealt with on a case by
case basis.
CLASS A SLOW PITCH
These caliber teams will be dealt with on a case by
case basis.
Reclassification of teams for 2012
These are the official move-ups as mandated
by the state office. These were done in combination with the State Slow
Pitch Committee, the State Reclassification Board and inputs if needed
from the League Directors, Players Reps , Deputy Commissioners and District
Commissioners. These Re-Classifications are in accordance with the new ASA
of PA Code Section 4.03.
Each team
affected is listed with their hometown or league along with their District
and reason for the classification change. Any team can appeal the decision
of the State office. Go to the Web Page on the ASA of PA site, print out the
form, fill it out and then mail it to the classification director ((http://www.paasa.org/Forms/appeal.htm)
